COMPANY PROFILE:
MARINE
TRAINING ACADEMY (MTA), the brainchild of Dr. S.G. KOLI,
Director, was born on 23rd April, 1993 under the name of MARINE
MEDICAL ACADEMY (MMA)) with the mission to impart First Aid
Training to seafarers, thereby assisting them in dispensing
proper medical assistance to fellow seafarers in case of a
medical emergency, thus helping in minimizing causalities at
sea.
Subsequently, with the imposition of various regulations by the
International Maritime Organisation (IMO) and with STCW'95
amendments imposing mandatory training requirements on
seafarers, MMA further forayed into training of the seafaring
fraternity by expanding their scope of marine training
activities in January 1998 by introducing new courses.
The courses conducted at the Academy comply with the requirements
of Standards for Training, Certification and Watch keeping
convention of 1995 (STCW'95) and are approved by the Director
General Of Shipping, Government of India.
Training is imparted by qualified and experienced faculty members
using the latest aids for practical demonstration and state of
the art equipment supplemented by various books, publications,
video films along with presentation aids like overhead
projectors, T.V., V.C.R., transparencies etc. The Academy also
has an extensive library consisting of all required books and
publications.
At the training academy, a conducive atmosphere fostering the
spirit of mutual learning between the trainees and trainers is
maintained thereby leading to improved interaction between the
candidates and faculty members.
The Organisation was rechristened MARINE TRAINING ACADEMY in
January 2003.
